Swindon Council offer symptom-free COVID testing to carers and those not able to work from home

As of Monday 15 February, Swindon Borough Council has announced that symptom-free testing will be made available to carers and those unable to work from home.

The announcement comes as the NHS prepares to vaccinate Phase Group 5 (all those aged 65 and over).

Speaking of the initiative, Swindon Borough Council, Director of Public Health, Steve Maddern, said,

"We know that one in three people who have coronavirus do not display any symptoms, so you could be passing on the virus to your family, colleagues, or the vulnerable people you care for without even knowing it.

Symptom-free tests are able to generate results quickly and will allow us to identify more positive cases of COVID-19 in Swindon and ensure those who are affected self-isolate immediately."

Symptom-free tests will be offered to all Carers (foster carers, personal assistants, direct payment recipients, and unpaid carers) who are unable to work from home during the lockdown or are providing care for another person.

Testing appointments can be booked online and results will be back with two hours of taking the test.

It is recommended that you book a symptom-free test twice a week in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in Swindon. To find out more information, click here
