Volunteers' thanked with cream tea at The Olive Tree cafe

Our Volunteer Support Officer, Alex Parker, was delighted to be able to organise a Volunteer Thank You event last week at The Olive Tree Café.
Volunteer with cream tea

The event was held in celebration of our volunteers’ Pride of Swindon award. Aside from the sampling of a delicious cream tea, the group managed to fit in essential safeguarding training as well as getting to know each other.

Speaking of the event, Alex said,

"It was lovely to get everyone together, socially distanced of course, and fit in some vital learning."

There has been a surge in volunteering over the last few months due to the pandemic with ten million UK adults helping their communities over the lockdown period. A trend that Alex hopes will continue.

Volunteers are vital to our operation, they help us engage with the local community and support so much of our work. Without them, we simply would not function.

Alex, Volunteer Support Officer

Alex hopes to repeat the event next month with another group of volunteers. Our only question is, cream or jam first?
