Purpose of the role:

To gather feedback from people using the group within the community and feedback their views on local health and social care services so Healthwatch can help to improve care locally. People’s views are collated and fed back to the service, the commissioners who fund the service and the Care Quality Commission who regulate the service.

What will you be doing?

As a Healthwatch Volunteer you may be asked to:

  • Attend Healthwatch volunteer induction, training and group support sessions as appropriate
  • Be a point of contact between Healthwatch and the public
  • Promote Healthwatch within the community through the distribution of leaflets and posters to primary care and community groups
  • Promote Healthwatch in your local community at community events
  • Promote Healthwatch by staffing a Healthwatch stall at events to raise awareness and hear from participants
  • Consult with the public about their views and experiences of local health and social care services and feed back to Healthwatch.
  • Support people to complete the Healthwatch story forms or go online to give feedback
  • Impartially and effectively report the views of  the public back to Healthwatch
  • Attend health and social care meetings to represent Healthwatch and feedback information from Healthwatch in a way that is easily understood
  • Prepare for meetings by reading papers and preparing Healthwatch information to share at the meeting

How much time and when?

The days and amount of time you give is flexible. You can discuss and agree these with your Volunteer Support Officer.
