About this event

To celebrate the launch of the University of Gloucestershire new Learning Disabilities Nursing Programme, and the success of their Adult and Mental Health Nursing programmes, Campaigner, Paula McGowan will talk on the topic of “Raising Awareness of Reasonable Adjustments.”

Paula began Oliver’s Campaign after the preventable death of her teenage son, Oliver. Oliver’s death highlighted the need for healthcare staff to have better access to training to help improve their skills and confidence and give them a greater understanding of the conditions of the people that they are supporting, This work has resulted in mandatory training for all health and social care staff, which is to be known as the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism. Health Education England and Skills for Care are co-ordination this work.
